Carla was a successful classical singer in the Netherlands when she suffered a burn out on stage and lost her voice. Unhappy with the masquerade of femininity required for a public career, she quit and began a long journey to discover a truer self. Now, at 72, she climbs the stage one more time to sing and face the ghosts of her past once and for all.
