Marty, a lovelorn student at New York University, uncomfortably mingles with fellow members of his debate team at a college party, before breaking away from them entirely. He sets out on a nighttime journey across Manhattan to Columbia University, with the intention of confessing his love to Kellie, a young woman whom he barely knows. An old-fashioned boy with his heart on his sleeve, Marty slowly discovers that the world doesn't operate as romantically as he had hoped.
